1. Where do I get the required education?
- Any conference, course or online learning opportunity with NICU related content for which you have a receipt or documentation of attendance counts towards this requirement.
- Each hour spent in an educational opportunity counts as one hour.
- There are many providers of neonatal therapy related continuing education. Click Here to view education resources for neonatal therapists.
- Education must be evidence-based.
2. Are there materials available to aid in preparation for the Neonatal Therapy Certification™ Exam?
- Once the application is submitted, the applicant will be given access to a study guide which includes information about the exam, study tips, a self assessment and an extensive reference list to use to prepare for the exam. This reference list is broken down by exam domain and has the most important articles highlighted. Links are provided for each article.
- The NTCB also offers a Neonatal Therapy Review and Exam Prep Course, which is optional. Although this course can aid in confidence and knowledge acquisition and review, participation in this course does not guarantee success with the exam.
“The Neonatal Therapy Certification process has made me a more well rounded developmental care specialist. It has forced me to step out of my feeding/dysphagia bubble and I have been able to apply my new knowledge every time I interact with a baby and their caregivers.”
After the exam:
“The test was a challenging yet fair representation of what an advanced NICU therapist should know. I strongly encourage every NICU therapist to pursue certification. You owe it to your patients to be the best therapist you can be!”
